Personal Statement
What is the most valuable thing for a person to do?
“Becoming an Indigenous person, someone connected to the earth and all the living beings on it. All peoples’ of the world began their cultures as tribal societies and then as time passed and the ethnic group became larger, most have moved on to become industrial societies creating various levels of disconnect from mother earth and each other. As we search for the Original earth connection that each of our ancestors had at one time, we find our true selves and this Indigenous Knowledge (Local Wisdom) empowers us to bring great beauty and peace into the world. Educators who are able to tap into this infinite treasure residing within are able to create learning experiences for their students that not only illuminate the path to understanding content knowledge; but also lead the students to the root of their own minds which opens the door to attainment of their full human potentiality.”

Personal Statement
Why did I start OPEN Global Village?
“Because I see the value of learning and giving to other people and the need for good teachers. Anybody can be a teacher, but it is very difficult to find a great teacher with a kind heart, who patiently listens to their students’ problems to guide them to a solution. Because I know how hard it is to learn especially when using a second language and coming from a different culture and I see how rare it is to find the teacher who gives their heart to their students to encourage them to continue through their major program to successfully reach their goal. I am fortunate to have my personal teacher, my husband, Michael Little Crow, so I can still learn and get through even when the teacher does not show me kindness. I see how my husband works with his students by giving them a kind heart with patience. He always says, “if my student is not learning, it is my problem, not theirs, and I have to find the way to help them understand.” This is the message that makes me want to build “wonderful teachers” like this. These words are not only from me, but from all his students who tell me this when I meet them. This is why I feel I have to support these projects in any way I can because I want to give back to other people who don’t have someone to OPEN the door of opportunity and create experiences for them to discover the Local Wisdom residing within.”
Dr. Uraipanyawa Pinthong is a visionary leader in mindfulness education and interdisciplinary studies. With an MA in Mindfulness Education, Ed.D. in Leadership and Innovation, and a Ph.D. in Psychology in Education, Dr. Pinthong has an impressive academic background. For Dr. Pinthong, teaching is not just about imparting knowledge but also about instilling kindness, patience, and empathy in students. She believes that anyone can be a teacher, but not everyone can be a great teacher. With her husband, Dr. Michael Little Crow, by her side, Dr. Pinthong is committed to creating transformative learning experiences for students worldwide.
